Neptune in Pisces

For those of us in the northern hemisphere it is still winter, but there are signs of spring already around. Bulbs are shooting up, snowdrops are out, catkins dangle from the trees.
On February 2nd, it is the Celtic fire festival of Brigid (sometimes known as Imbolc, or Brigantia, and also the Christian Candlemas). Both celebrate women, with torches, candles and fire, making this a time of illumination and inspiration.
This is the mid-point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox; it symbolizes a shift from the quiet, dormant time of winter to the first stirrings of new growth, and desire to move forward.
It is a time of waiting, but using that time to plant new ideas that can slowly germinate as the days brighten and the light increases. The life force is renewed once again.
On Saturday 28th January there is the opportunity to notice and develop new ways of communicating, Bright ideas abound, and the Aries Moon adds dynamism to the day. Emotionally there could be a pull between wanting to do something for yourself and feeling tied by duty. If you can, follow your heart today, because by pleasing yourself you will have more strength ultimately to help others,
These new ideas may be tested on Sunday 29th, when Mercury challenges Jupiter. Some of the ideas may be over-ambitious, some may push your beliefs out of your comfort zone. If you can, leave anything you’re unsure of to simmer for a week or two, and see what feels right then.
On Monday 30th the Moon moves into earthy Taurus (6.28), a fixed sign, which likes to move at a steady and sure pace. Some may appear to be entrenched in their own worlds on Monday and Tuesday and be difficult to budge from their views, or way of doing things.
However, there is a feeling of buoyancy around on Monday, so use the optimistic feel to make light of any grumpy, awkward peeps you come across, with humour and a winning smile.
The Moon moves into chatty Gemini on Wednesday 1st (19.14), a sign that blends well with the Aquarian Sun, making the next couple of days good for communication, dispersing ideas and being as flexible as you can.
Venus opposes Mars late on Wednesday, indicating that there could be a pull between what you would really like and the choices currently in front of you, none of which are perfect. Waiting is an option (by the 14th March there is an easy flow between Venus and Mars), or compromise.
There is a fine balance to be sought between going with the flow, and fine tuning details and intentions, especially concerning relationships, and creative projects. There is dynamism with an opposition that swings from one end to the other, but it also has the potential to then create something new which incorporates the best of both ends.
Neptune, planet of otherworldliness, intuition and compassion flows into its own sign, Pisces, on Friday 3rd February (19.03). This slow moving planet dipped its toes in the Piscean waters last year, between April and early August 2011, before moving back into Aquarius. This time it stays in Pisces until March 2025.
Usually planets work well when they are in their own sign, as there is a congruent energy between the function of the planet and its natural means of expression.
Hopefully, there will be more compassion and love for all human beings, and more openness to the less scientifically proven but nevertheless helpful (at least to some) systems such as Astrology.
Intuition may be heeded more by logically minded individuals. There may be a general consensus that holistic approaches do work, that more can be achieved when there is harmony between the mind, body and spirit.
There could be issues around water, and oil, not surprising really considering the state of planet earth, but hopefully also new resolutions and breakthroughs which will help harness these precious resources.
I see Neptune in Pisces as a time to tune in but not drop out, a time to connect with others on a positive spiritual level, so we can move into a time where there is greater equality and resources for all.
