New Moon in Aquarius - Expansion and Contraction

A Capricorn Moon flavours the weekend with the need to be organised and practical. Saturday is a great day for de-cluttering; the most helpful advice I’ve had with this is to ask yourself if it serves who you are now, or who you are aiming to become, rather than whether it is useful, or regarding clothes, whether it fits or been worn in the last year or two.
On Sunday 22nd the Sun sextiles Uranus (1.20) and squares Jupiter (6.35). These are energies which favour change, innovation and freeing yourself up from some restricting circumstance. However the downside is that over-expansion and taking on too much could result. The Sun/Jupiter aspect is a prelude to the new moon scenario, on Monday 23rd (7.39), when the Sun and Moon square Jupiter and Saturn, the latter two being in opposition to each other.
Issues concerning boundaries, expansion and contraction abound, where to move forward, where to consolidate what you have, and where to prune back.
Luckily the Moon conjuncts Mercury, and trines Mars on Sunday, and Mercury trines Mars on Monday (11.15), enabling an easy flow when it comes to communication, speaking or writing incisively, being assertive but not aggressive in putting ideas across.
A new moon signifies a new cycle, and for the Chinese, it a particularly significant one, because it is their New Year, this time the turn of the Dragon.
There is a significant shift in the way energy is expended as Mars turns retrograde on Tuesday 24th, and continues this way until April 14th, when it turns direct again. Energy may not be expressed as easily as when Mars is moving in a direct fashion, and some may feel less driven and energised than usual.
In difficult situations, others could seem more covertly manipulative rather than openly hostile. Being forewarned is forearmed.
However, for those with high energy levels generally, and a tendency to launch themselves impulsively into action, Mars retrograde could help them to concentrate and focus on what they really want, and help them to take a slower but more effective approach.
On Wednesday 25th the Moon holds hands briefly with Neptune, and then swims into Pisces (9.11), making this the day of the week to focus on dreams, the imagination and intuition. The Moon makes beneficent aspects to Jupiter and Saturn today, helping to ease the tension between them, and maybe giving some answers to any expansion/contraction and boundary issues. The answers are likely to come through tuning into your intuition, noticing any recurring thoughts or ‘flashes’, rather than trying to think things out rationally.
Thursday 26th is the day for love, romance and socializing, as the Moon joins forces with Venus, and sextiles Pluto. It is a good day for anything connected to women, for things of a compassionate nature, maybe combining business with a feel-good factor, so it helps to transform others. Feelings can be expressed on a deep level, relationships moved to the next level.
There’s a change of vibe on Friday 27th, as Mercury, planet of communication squares Saturn (9.19), bringing up those boundary issues again. It may be time to drop some ideas and beliefs that have become unviable. See it as a way of de-cluttering the mind to make way for the new.
A lack of confidence may be present for those where communication is important, but bear with it, it’s only temporary. Draw on inner reserves and ignore the nay-sayers, and those with a negative frame of mind.
It’s all change again on Friday evening as Mercury changes signs, leaving Capricorn for Aquarius (18.12). The Moon moves into Aries around the same time (18.28), and then sextiles Mercury (18.30) and conjuncts Uranus (21.39). It is potentially a sparkling, lively Friday evening, when surprises can occur, and good times can be enjoyed. Time to let your hair down and relax!
Enjoy the week!
