Venus in Pisces - Keeping Your Heart Open

Saturday 14th January - Friday, 20th January 2012

Following the Venus/Neptune conjunction of the 13th January in hot pursuit, Venus swims into its sign of exaltation, Pisces, on Saturday 14th. The planet Neptune rules Pisces, so these two astrological events are very much in sync. It’s like having a double dose of kindness, compassion, and wanting to enjoy the highest forms of love. It is connected to romance, and also spiritual love. Whatever challenges arrive this week try to keep your heart open, and trust life is unfolding as it’s meant to.

Venus feels at home in Pisces, and is extremely imaginative and creative here. Anything that isn’t mundane, including such things as dancing, music, films, water gardens and art are extremely good for the soul now. Venus travels through Pisces until February 8th, and is the first planet to be in a water sign (apart from the Moon, which isn’t technically a planet) for a while, and enables water signs like Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces, and those with an emphasis in this element to have an open channel for their feelings.

A benevolent aspect from Venus to Jupiter on Sunday 15th adds charm and a sociable vibe to the day. A couple of lunar aspects suggest a bit of fraughtness in some quarters, so try to focus on the overall picture instead of getting bogged down in anything which is insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

The Moon moves into Scorpio on Monday 16th (16.33), and until Wednesday, when it moves into Sagittarius (19.29) emotions may be expressed intensely and passionately. From Wednesday evening until Friday evening, a lighter feel and philosophical approach to expressing feelings wins the day.

During the week, there is a gradual build up to the Sun/Saturn square on Thursday (21.18). This is what I like to call a pruning aspect when an assessment of what is working/not working in life can be made, and anything that is not is gently let go of. Others, particularly authority figures, can be challenging at this time. Stand up for yourself, but also ask if there is something this person/situation can teach you (even if you don’t like it!).

There is the beginning of a new phase on Friday, 20th, as the Sun leaves Capricorn and moves into the airy climes of Aquarius. The energy now favours the unconventional, the new and untried, and is a prelude to the New Moon in Aquarius, and Chinese New Year of the Dragon, on the 23rd. More of that next time.
