New Moon in Virgo - Positive Growth and Change
Monday 29th August - Sunday 4th September 2011

This is the most auspicious new moon this year, symbolizing the potential for new beginnings of the most positive kind. Venus, planet of love and money, is next to the Sun and Moon, and all three are involved in harmonious interchanges with Jupiter, planet of growth and exploration, and Pluto, planet (in the eyes of astrologers), of transformation and power. It is a heady combination, all falling in earth signs, which means the emphasis is on the practical and material world, but the spiritual and emotional sides of life benefit also.
New businesses and relationships can thrive now, as long as there is integrity and honesty, combined with involvement of the heart. Attention to detail, and clarity of communication will pay dividends in the future. There is an air of optimism around for new ventures and new partnerships. Two heads may be better than one in instigating changes for the better.
After the tense time of the last few months (years?), there are portholes of light in the gloom. There are still challenges ahead (as always) but it is good to see there is the potential for fruitful growth to rise up and take over from the negativity.
The new moon happens on Monday 29th (4.04 am BST). The monthly conjunction of the Moon and Venus takes place at 11.10, closely followed by a trine to Jupiter. Love, good feelings, optimism and and a desire to relax and have some fun predominate. In the UK, it is Bank Holiday Monday, and these aspects all bode well for it being a great day.
Virgo does not like to make a dramatic splash but goes about her business in a quiet, unassuming way, getting the job done efficiently, showing kindness and healing qualities in love. Having written that, when Venus in Virgo makes a harmonious aspect to Jupiter on Tuesday, 30th, sensuality and having a good time will permeate the day. Monday, Tuesday and Friday 2nd September are all great days to declare your feelings to some-one, to open up to new possibilities for a relationship to blossom, evoking much happiness for all involved.
The Moon moves into Libra at 19.25 BST on Tuesday 30th, adding more emphasis to partnership (emotional and business) matters and the need for fairness and balance.
Tense aspects infuse Wednesday 31st, involving the Moon, Uranus and Pluto, making this the day when unrest and disruption unsettle the basically harmonious flow of the week.
Transiting Uranus, planet of change, surprises and innovation is in challenging aspect to Pluto, planet of transformation and power off and on between 2011 and March 2015. The energies involved want to break out and change the status quo. It fits the August riots in the UK, the marches against students fees and other cuts. The tension between the two planets lasts so long because both are slow moving and every so often turn retrograde (appear to move backwards), so, like a dance, they square up to each other every so often, sparking off unpredictable, upsetting events. Hopefully, something positive will emerge from the turmoil, and a new, fairer order will establish itself. It will take time.
There is an easy exchange between the mind and the heart on Thursday, making it easier to say how you really feel about something, or some-one. The Moon shimmies into sultry Scorpio at 19.48 BST on Thursday, 1st, adding passion and intensity to any emotional situation.
Friday is a day of flow and harmony, with a propensity to go overboard about something, but in a generally good way. You may overspend, overeat or generally over indulge in some way, but may decide it was worth it for the transitory feelings of pleasure.
The overall optimism of the week culminates in a harmonious liaison (a trine) between the Sun and Jupiter, on Saturday, 3rd September. It is a good day to practice seeing the best in everyone, to be philosophical about any recent setbacks, and to decide to move forward.
Sagittarius is the next sign the Moon moves to, at 22.03 on Saturday. There could be a bit of a dilemma between getting jobs done and having fun on Sunday, 4th September. Spend a bit of time on both, maybe being dutiful first, so you can enjoy the rest of the day. Then you have the best of both worlds, and can give yourself some gold stars while you put your feet up.
Enjoy the week!
