Full Moon in Cancer - Expand your Horizons

The full moon aspect generally signifies the culmination of something. To me, this one suggests it's time to finish working out what needs to be cut back in your life (read the January new moon column), and to move forward with new ideas, new possibilities which will herald in a new phase. Although this is a full moon, the aspects from Jupiter and Uranus, which weave to and fro with the Sun and Moon from Saturday to Wednesday, indicate it could feel like a new moon.
The aspects involved are benign on the whole, and can be used to expand your horizons, to find a good response to innovative ideas. The best way to move forward is to proceed in a gentle fashion. You are likely to win more fans by being progressive rather than revolutionary. Using and developing existing channels to try something new could work better than starting from scratch. A movement by movement approach enables you to use the best of the past to connect to the future, so that there is a forward flow rather than disjointed leaps and bounds.
Like the December Full Moon this one occurs in the last degrees of the sign involved, Cancer, at 21.21, on Wednesday 19th January. The Moon has moved into Leo by 22.16, shifting the focus from home and family matters to creativity and playfulness.
An Aquarian vibe infiltrates the airwaves as the week unfolds. Mars, planet of action and desire, moves into Aquarius on Saturday, 15th, (22.41 GMT) and the Sun begins its annual passage through this sign on Thursday, 20th (10.18 GMT). The move of these two from Capricorn to Aquarius suggests the emphasis is now on the novel, and possibly eccentric, rather than on the traditional and structured. Aquarius is an air sign (even though it is known as the Water-Carrier), and expresses itself rationally. Emotions don't usually flow easily (unless there are several planets in water signs); an air of friendly but cool detachment commonly emanates from strong Aquarian types. At best, they are humanitarian, and often work for causes to help others.
This time last year Mars was in Leo, the opposite sign to Aquarius; it was a difficult time for this sign when others seemed to line up against them. This year, Mars is aligned alongside them, in Aquarius, so it should feel easier to find allies and achieve goals, especially if their intention is involved with working for the greater good, rather than just furthering their own ambitions.
Another interesting combination occurs on Tuesday, 18th January, when the Moon, Mercury and Pluto all get together, in Capricorn. 'Deep Thought' was the phrase that came to mind when I thought of Mercury and Pluto, coupled with intuition from the Moon. You could spend the day pondering the meaning of life, or because of Pluto's secretive nature, you may find out something that has been eluding you for some time. Words are powerful in this combination, so use them carefully and with kindness.
It's a week when adventures can begin, so venture out, and see what is over the next horizon. There's a feeling in the air that life is about to get (even) better; it's time to take heart, to put your best foot forward with faith and courage.
