Aiming for Equilibrium
Saturday 4th December - Friday 10th December 2010

A lively, exciting feel permeates Saturday, 4th December, as easy aspects flow between the Scorpio moon and Jupiter and Uranus. It is a good time to express warmth to loved ones, and to do something different. It doesn't need to be anything major, just something like trying out a new cafe, buying an author you haven't read before, or driving home a different route. It helps dispel any feelings of dullness and boredom, and stimulates the senses.
The sliver of a silvery moon slides from Scorpio to Sagittarius at 17.59 GMT on Saturday, heralding the new moon on Sunday, 5th (17.36 GMT).
There is usually a feeling of exuberance around when Sagittarius is out to play, and sometimes it can get out of hand. However, this new moon is a temperate one, making a gentle sextile to Saturn, in Libra, suggesting a time of moderation and balance. A new moon signifies a new lunar cycle; it's a good time to set intentions for the next four weeks, which in this case takes us through Christmas and into the New Year.
The next few days are excellent for working out a budget, delegating chores and 'things that need doing', working on any loose boundaries, especially emotional ones, and assessing where your barometer is on the home/work balance. If it's pointing to 'stormy weather', this is a time when you can use negotiation to help swing it back to 'fair'. It is a time when you can combine joyful celebrations without being excessive, and enjoy the delights of the season without becoming snowed under, by learning to say 'no'. This new moon is about teamwork and fairness, so if you are the one who always/usually does more than your share, now might be the time to speak up and change things.
(NB Sorry about the pun – I wrote this well before the snow arrived!)
You could also be planning how you can extend your enjoyment of life by exploration, either physically, mentally, or both. A long-distance holiday may be thought about, a new study contemplated, a new kind of exercise pondered over. Often it takes a while for these things to materialize, but the seeds can be sown for future action.
The infusion of thoughtfulness continues into Monday, 6th December, when Mercury, planet of communication, and Pluto, planet of all that is deep, get together. Deep thought and profound ideas abound; the power of the mind may be in evidence around you. This conjunction takes place in Capricorn, and ambitious, organized ideas may be flying through the airwaves in a forceful way. Strongly held opinions may emanate from traditional and political arenas. Subtlety is not associated with this aspect so watch out for anyone who tries to sway you to their opinion, unless it is for the greater good of all.
The Capricorn vibe extends as the moon moves into this sign on Monday 6th (23.16 GMT), and Mars on Tuesday, 7th (23.49 GMT). Mars works well in this sign; careful, organized work pays dividends, and it's easier to focus on practical matters. There is a meeting of mind and heart on Tuesday too, and a steady, progressive aspect between the Sun and Saturn, which helps upward movement in some endeavour.
Wednesday 8th sees another opportunity (this aspect, Venus sextile Pluto, happened on 1st November too) to consider the possibilities of a relationship, and/or way of increasing your resources. The chances are it won't be something that feels pressing, but something that can develop into something fruitful if you are open to moving forwards with it.
There's a Uranian feel to Thursday 9th, as the Moon sextiles Uranus, and then moves into Aquarius at 7.30 GMT. Look at for unexpected nice surprises, and try and build in something quirky/original/different to the day.
On Friday, Mercury turns retrograde (12.03 GMT), but makes a lovely sextile to Venus as it does so. This adds harmony to any social exchanges, and the beneficial link between the Sun and Moon extends the light-hearted nature of the day. Mercury goes direct on the 30th December, so bear in mind between now and then, the post, journeys and communications generally may not flow in a smooth fashion. Accept the glitches and u-turns (literally and metaphorically), because sometimes a little re-direction reveals something previously unknown, and this can turn out to be incredibly helpful in the long run.
Enjoy the week!
