Shifting and Settling

Happy New Year! I wish you all a wonderful year ahead, and may strength and hope help you ride through any challenging times.
A fairly quiet astrological mood infuses the first week of the year, although there are murmurings and mumblings around in abundance. Mercury, planet of communication, is appearing to go backwards (retrograde) at the moment, but is giving the opportunity to fine tune any projects, plans, and to develop ideas, which will prove fruitful at a later date.
After the tense full moon of new year's eve, a cosmic sigh of relief may be heard. It may take a few days to shift the energy to a less intense one. Walking in fresh air will help, as will deep breathing, and saying 'aaaaaaaaaah'. This helps to open up the heart centre, and to dissipate any residual negative feelings that have built up in the preceding festive but often fraught season.
If you have a local favourite place in nature, whether it's a woodland walk or a wind-swept beach, make an effort to wrap up warm, connect with nature and welcome in the next phase. It'll do you the world of good.
On Sunday 3rd, for those of creative bent, a quintile between Venus and Uranus symbolizes an opportunity to see an innovative way of taking your mode of creativity a step further, or possibly in a new and unexpected direction. Stay alert and be open to any intuitive hunches that come your way today.
Many return to the world of work on the Monday 4th, and can benefit from a fleeting Sun/Mercury conjunction. People will generally be in communicative mood, and may have firm ideas about what they want. Bearing in mind Mercury is retrograde, these ideas may change over the next couple of weeks, so what seems 'fixed' may not turn out to be.
Tuesday is the day for discussion and sharing thoughts and feelings, as Mercury conjuncts Venus, and the Moon in Virgo links harmoniously with both of them, and the Sun. Earth signs predominate so being grounded is the mood of the day, but also a quiet sensuality, so that pleasure is intertwined with practicality.
Wednesday and Thursday are more edgy, and people may not be that accommodating, so give them a bit of leeway to express themselves, and then peacefully put forward your point of view.
The Moon moves into passionate, deep Scorpio on Friday. This sign blends well with Capricorn, and progress can be achieved smoothly combined with purposeful activity.
